The Great 48

Steuben Press had the opportunity to work with Josh Sanders on a really fun book project recently. Josh and his sister Lindsay set out to break the High Pointing world record and they accomplished just that on July 12th 2015. With a limited budget and a small support crew, Josh and Lindsay set out on an adventure of a lifetime. They documented their amazing trip in a photobook, which we at Steuben Press had the pleasure of printing for them.

Josh and Lindsay funded their trip by friends and family who purchased and advance copy of the book that was put together documenting their journey. Once we opened the files we knew this book was special. Not only because it shared such a great story but because it truly is beautifully done. All of the photos are absolutely breathtaking and they really capture the diverse terrain they faced while setting the record.

Here is a video capturing some of the printing process for the book the Great 48. This book is unique because it is a landscape layout, so it has a wide format cover printed in full color. We used a gloss lamination on the covers and 80# silk interior paper stock to feature the full color photography. The books were perfect bound and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results.

Flight cover

After a disappointing proof of my labor-intensive and much loved manuscript from another printer, I decided to try Steuben Press. Based on recommendations from many of my publishing team who are all members of the Colorado Independent Publishers Association (CIPA), I submitted my book to Adam and his staff.

Their proof was perfect! The illustrations were crisp, the print clear, and the construction high quality. But the cover! Absolutely beautiful and softly glossed, Steuben's production added depth to the colors and popped the fine design by my cover artist. My book shimmers on the shelf!

Now I sell only Steuben's copies by hand and feel confident that my readers are receiving the best product reflecting my years of effort and passion for my subject."
